Management Team
Teo Hock Chwee (“Mr Teo”), our founder, Chairman and Managing Director has over 39 years of working experience, of which 34 years were directly spent in the structural steelworks industry. Mr Teo is responsible for the overall business strategy of the Group and also responsible for the management of the Group’s dormitory business. Since the age of 16, he has been involved in various odd-jobs, daily rated work and subcontract project works where he gained valuable hands-on experience in steel fabrication works. In 1975 and at only 20 years in age, Mr Teo and his brother formed a partnership trading under the name of Teo Contractor, to engage in the business of mechanical engineering installation and steel fabrication works. Largely due to his drive and ambition to succeed, Teo Contractor was able to win a number of notable mechanical engineering installation and fabrication works for environmental engineering projects. These mechanical engineering installation and steel fabrication works included sewage plants in Bedok, Jurong and Ulu Pandan. In 1981, he partnered with 2 other engineers to form TTJDE to engage in larger scale structural steelworks projects. Through his leadership over the last 28 years, TTJDE has been able to grow into a leading steel fabricator and, as at the Latest Practicable Date, is one of 11 S1 accredited steel fabricators by the Singapore Structural Steel Society.
Chiong Su Been (“Su Been”), our Executive Director and CFO, joined our Group in 2005.
With over 12 years of experience in accounting and finance,
she is responsible for the full spectrum of financial and taxation functions in our Group, including financial accounting, management accounting, budgeting and forecasting, statutory reporting to relevant authorities in all jurisdictions that our Group operates in as well as internal controls and compliance with corporate, legal, tax, accounting and operational requirements. From 1997 to 1999, she worked as an accounts executive for Sri Hartamas Buildings Sdn. Bhd. and from 2000 to 2003, she took on the position of a senior accountant with Liang Huat Aluminium Ltd. Prior to her joining us, she was with Barang Barang Pte. Ltd. as finance manager from 2004 to 2005. Su Been is a member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and a provisional member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore.
Lim Yian Poh (“Yian Poh”), our Lead Independent Director joined our Board in 1996. He has more than 20 years' experience in the banking and finance industry, having worked in major international banks including Citibank, Banque Nationale de Paris (now known as BNP Paribas) and Arab Banking Corporation, where he held regional responsibilities. He possesses a wealth of experience and
an extensive network of contacts both in Singapore and the region. In 1993, he left as General Manager of Arab Banking Corporation, Singapore Branch to set up Yian Poh Associates, a financial consultancy and investment firm. Since then he has been invited to sit on the boards of several large companies, including CASA Holdings Limited and Zicom Group Ltd, a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange. Yian Poh has been a Commercial Advisor to The Administrative Committee of Jiaxing Economic Development Zone, China since 2000. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Nanyang University, Singapore in 1969 and his Master of Science degree from the University of Hull, England in 1972.
Leong Yee Yew (“Frank”), our Independent Director joined the Board in 2010. He has more than 16 years experience in the fields of auditing, having worked as an Audit Supervisor in Coopers & Lybrand which is now known as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Singapore and London and as an Audit Manager and Partner in Patrick Tay & Co. from 1990 to 2005, Frank was the Company Secretary and Financial Controller of Marina Centre Holdings Private Limited (Marina Holdings), a subsidiary of Singapore Land Limited, which is involved in property investments in shopping malls and office blocks and hotels in the Marina Square complex. During his tenure at Marina Holdings, he was required to, inter alia, liaise with Marina Holdings' legal counsels on corporate legal and secretarial matters as well as prepare the annual operating and capital expenditure budget of Marina Holdings. Frank sits on the board of Zicom Group Ltd, a company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange and he is an Honorary Treasurer of Children's Charities Association. Frank holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde. He is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and also a Fellow of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Singapore and CPA Australia. Frank has been retired since 2005.
Ling Chien Yien (“Chien Yien”), our Independent Director joined our Board in 1996. He has more than 25 years of mechanical engineering and project management expertise in the public and private sectors. From 1970 to 1975, he was an executive mechanical engineer with the Public Works Department of Singapore. From 1975 to 1984, he was with Guthrie Engineering Pte. Ltd. (“Guthrie”) as a project executive before being promoted to the position of manager. During his tenure at Guthrie, he was responsible for project tendering and contract management of mechanical & environmental engineering projects, and sales and marketing of mechanical engineering equipment. From 1984 to 1995, he was a general manager with a Singapore consortium company, Mainland Investors (S) Pte. Ltd. where he was responsible for regional business expansion plans in East Asia, negotiation, feasibility study, evaluation of investment projects, business development of construction activities, formation
of new companies and the overall general management of the company. From 1996 onwards he became non-executive director of our Company and acted as an advisor to the Group. Chien Yien holds a Bachelor of Engineering from University of New South Wales.
